Something I've learned along this cooking journey is, there are all sorts of "categories" and "subcategories" of food. For example, this recipe is for a sandwich. But, "sandwich" only describes the main category. Within that there are hot sandwiches, cold sandwiches, open-faced sandwiches, loose meat sandwiches, subs, hoagies, and even stuffed sandwiches (go look it up). Hamburgers are considered a form of hot sandwich right alongside the noble PB&J (a cold sandwich).
This recipe is in a subcategory called "loose meat" or "tavern" sandwiches, which consist of ground beef that is cooked into crumbles, combined with various seasonings, and served on sliced bread or a bread roll. Some of these are regional, such as the Maid-Rite or the Manna Sandwich, while others are better known nationwide, such as the Sloppy Joe. This one has an interesting twist that gives it a very savory and smooth consistency - cream of mushroom soup. It also checks off most of the boxes when it comes to a summertime meal - fast, simple, tasty, and definitely a crowd-pleaser even for picky eaters.

An easy to make loose meat sandwich with a creamy cheesy flavor that is both filling and satisfying for even the pickiest of eaters.

In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and onion and cook 7-10 minutes or until the meat is browned, breaking it into crumbles as it cooks. Drain off any excess grease.
Sprinkle the steak seasoning over the meat mixture. Add the bell pepper and garlic, then stir to combine. Cook for 3 minutes, stirring frequently. Add the cream of mushroom soup (do not dilute it) and Worcestershire sauce, and stir to combine. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Taste and season with salt and pepper as needed.
Turn off heat, then add cheese and stir to combine. Allow cheese to melt, then mix thoroughly. Serve in hoagie rolls split on the side (do not slice completely through so the rolls will hold the meat mixture).
