(10/1/2023) To recognize the 5th anniversary of Mike Tries a New Recipe, I have updated this recipe with a couple of minor tweaks including increasing the amounts of two ingredients (chicken and hot sauce) and adjusting the serving size to 2 cups from 1-1/2 cups to yield 12 servings from a 6-quart slow cooker (this is in line with similar all-in-one meals as they are typically served with no side dishes),

Notes
- This recipe will completely fill a 6 quart slow cooker. It can be easily cut in half if needed.
- The canned items are what make this recipe “easy.” If you wish, you can always substitute freshly prepared ingredients.
- The stew may have a weaker or stronger barbecue flavor depending on whether the beef and pork are obtained “dry” or in sauce. If an even stronger flavor is desired, replace the ketchup with your favorite barbecue sauce.
- If stew gets too thick while cooking, stir in 1/2 cup of hot water at a time until desired consistency is reached.
